As long as I can remember i've been drawing. My family members were grateful models for my pencil studies! It was therefore logical that I went to study at the Art Academy to further develop my skills in drawing still life, (anatomy) model and painting with oil paint. In addition to this classic teaching form, there was also a modern movement with young teachers who held high priority on abstract art. A versatile education, which I followed with great pleasure.
For myself, this pleasure in drawing and painting is the motive to always crawl behind my easel. The urge to create something ....!
Great inspiration for me remains Nature in all its facets. I can enjoy the wide variety of flowers, the many colors and shapes, the beautiful cloudy skies, the changing of the seasons and especially the sunlight, so that everything is always exposed differently. The atmosphere that is evoked by this is very important to me, here I am very sensitive. I also try to show this atmosphere in my paintings.
A painting does not arise at once but is the result of a long process. I paint many layers over each other and have been working on this for several months. Especially because I am not easily satisfied and often over-painted parts of a painting. I have a strong aesthetic feeling and that is why a painting is only finished when everything is "right" and I am satisfied with the end result. This is often a laborious process ...
My paintings invite you to view with a "magnifying glass". In this way all small details become visible that I have painted with care. Because the big shapes are important to me as a composition, but in addition the details make the painting interesting and exciting!
